Tha_Rainman
pathping Someone at Futuremark posted this command. Its a cross between tracert and ping. It shows details about packet loss and at each stop. Useful?
Mr. Burns
mmm.. ok interesting loads of options: Options: -g host-list Loose source route along host-list. -h maximum_hops Maximum number of hops to search for target. -i address Use the specified source address. -n Do not resolve addresses to hostnames. -p period Wait period milliseconds between pings. -q num_queries Number of queries per hop. -w timeout Wait timeout milliseconds for each reply. -P Test for RSVP PATH connectivity. -R Test if each hop is RSVP aware. -T Test connectivity to each hop with Layer-2 priority tags. -4 Force using IPv4. -6 Force using IPv6. pretty cool this is what it gives when pinging a lan com: Tracing route to gf2ti [192.168.0.188] over a maximum of 30 hops: 0 athlon.mshome.net [192.168.0.1] 1 gf2ti.mshome.net [192.168.0.188] Computing statistics for 25 seconds... Source to Here This Node/Link Hop RTT Lost/Sent = Pct Lost/Sent = Pct Address 0 athlon.mshome.net [192.168.0.1] 0/ 100 = 0% | 1 0ms 0/ 100 = 0% 0/ 100 = 0% gf2ti.mshome.net [192.168.0.188] Trace complete. THA_monkey
Am I included in this "we" cos there aren't too many Dos commands that I don't know about. When I say Dos, I mean actual dos...not new microsoft xp command prompt with funky colour changing stuff. Tha_Rainman
I mean people in general... Not specifically peeps like us! Afaik the xp DOS is fully fledged DOS. What's wrong with it? Well apart from the fact that you can't read NTFS disks when you are not in xp
THA_monkey
There is nothing wrong with "command prompt", it isn't dos and never will be. Dos is an operating system, and is not something that you use simply to net send, or do stupid matix style colours with. You have to distinguish between dos and the windows xp's command prompt. They may have very similar commands and may look the same, but dos died years ago. If it aint installed with windows xp, how do you use it. Have a windows 98 dual boot? Tha_Rainman
is not something that you use simply to net send
WHAT! Its not??? j:k You can boot up in DOS easily with a boot disk. My problem now is all my disks are NTFS so all it can read it the A: drive. When I try C: it says no specified device or something. Anyway... on my next re-install after the exams I'm gonna install Windows Me and dual boot again. Its good to run old games like FS and all. [by old I mean those with engines based on old tech]
