I mean people in general... Not specifically peeps like us! Afaik the xp DOS is fully fledged DOS. What's wrong with it? Well apart from the fact that you can't read NTFS disks when you are not in xp

There is nothing wrong with "command prompt", it isn't dos and never will be.  Dos is an operating system, and is not something that you use simply to net send, or do stupid matix style colours with.  You have to distinguish between dos and the windows xp's command prompt.  They may have very similar commands and may look the same, but dos died years ago.  If it aint installed with windows xp, how do you use it.  Have a windows 98 dual boot?

 WHAT! Its not???

j:k :d

You can boot up in DOS easily with a boot disk. My problem now is all my disks are NTFS so all it can read it the A: drive. When I try C: it says no specified device or something. Anyway... on my next re-install after the exams I'm gonna install Windows Me and dual boot again. Its good to run old games like FS and all. [by old I mean those with engines based on old tech]
